TV too old for video player?

I want to connect a video player to an old colour TV (Panasonic 14 inch model TC1460). This television, still in EXCELLENT working order, must be about 20 years old. I am trying to connect a Panasonic NV-FJ611B video cassette player to it. No luck so far but am wondering whether there is incompatibility due to age?
It's quite likely that it is my age that is incompatible!
Thanks.

with a scart lead or coax? What happens?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Does the TV have a scart socket? If not, I assume you are taking the aerial output from the video and feeding it into the aerial input on the TV and tuning your TV to the video?
Does the video have scart outputs? If so, there may be a selection in the menus to select RF output.

"Does the TV have a scart socket?" No
"If not, I assume you are taking the aerial output from the video and feeding it into the aerial input on the TV and tuning your TV to the video?" Yes done that.

It may be a case of waiting for son/husband! I thought it might be straightforward plug and go.
The TV doesn't appear to be "talking" to the video player....
Many thanks for your prompt replies. Much appreciated.0 -
Once you've connected the video to the telly via the ariel lead, you need to tune the telly to find the channel the video is on (making sure the video is turned on - I would suggest putting a video in it and setting it to play the video then you know when you've found the video and not BBC1 etc.)0

I think I tried that - running the video, but will try once again in case I "missed" it.
Thanks for your help.0 -
As matto mentioned, tuning the telly should find it when playing a video, unless there is an overlap with another channel (5).
If your remote control has a CS button, then try hitting that, followed by 35 36 37 38, as video's usually output in that channel range by default.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Success!!!!!
I tried running the video again to tune in and the signal was right at the "edge" (if you know what I mean - sorry to be SO technical!!).
Thank you ALL for your immediate help. I am SO pleased.
You're brilliant.0 -
