The final straw was the 12 pounds added to my account for me not paying my monthly installment. OK OK it is my fault and I should have been more on top of it.

So I paid off the account, closed and cancelled it and have CUT UP THE CARD.

Phew - this is a big step for me as I'm a SAHM so am now totally reliant on my husband for cash. Despite being married for 11 years I've not done this before. Fingers crossed.:T
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

You can also become an additional card holder on one of your husband's cards for buying the essentials.

You can also get Childrens Tax Credits and Child Benefit money paid into your own account for spending on stuff.

You definitely prefer to be without any credit card? You wouldn't rather have a cashback card or Tesco Clubcard card that gives you something back when buying the essentials? All credit card companies are as "bad" as each other, but doesn't mean they're inherently evil.
