Hello,
I have a credit card debt that has been referred to a debt collection agency. The amount on the account is £3171. A good deal of this is interest. I wont go into the background of why I let this build up.
Basically RMA the firm associated with recovering the debt have offered a partial payment deal of £2550.
Is there any way for me to reduce this amount further. I asked them if I could pay £2200 but they wouldnt budge.
Should I go to court and try to get a reduced payment. What are my options and what impact would paying a reduced amount have on my credit rating, which is already quite poor.
Thanks
Pandora

Hi Pandora,
I am about to offer partial payment to a couple of my credit cards, I have spoken with National Debtline and Consumer Credit Counselling Service and they advise to offer partial payment of the debt. If you look on the UK Insolvency website there is a formula and a letter template that you can use. You need to keep your nerve, they will more than likely except the offer!
