Seen a house we like, tried to email and ring the agent to ask for the info pack, HIP and to arrange a viewing..................been trying since the 30th December.....not been able to get hold of them at all
Not surprised the house has been on the market a while as they don't answer their phones and don't reply to emails.............what a joke.
wonder if there vendor knows how bad they are!

I suppose this is a good opportunity for you currently, as there’ll be little competition for viewing!
Can you get in touch with the vendor to let them know of the problem, and of course your interest?0 -
i'm tempted to go knock on the door
or
I do see thier neighbour at the school gates most dates, i might have a chat and give them my number

I would also have a chat direct then if you like it get them to drop the agent seeing its then a private sale.0

Let the vendor know their ea is not picking up the phone.
edit: put a note through the door asking if you can arrange a viewing.0 -
Right sorted got a viewing for Sunday at 12
I went into town and into the office, tried the house directly but no one was in
they took my details and ran me back to confirm, however what i thought was strange was that the woman spend 10 minutes trying to interest me in a completely different house...............i thought that was in appropriate.
and then 5 minutes explaining that the EA who are selling my house aren't very good and i should move to them..what a cheek!
And they also tried to force on me their mortgage/financial services........must say at this point i was smelling desperation!2010 challenges

I can picture another thread where someone went into an EA's office, asked about one property, then they left.
That someone then posts here - "They just took my details and didn't tell me anything about the other properties they had for sale" ....... or similar.0 -

After having to deal with many different EA over the last year (yes unfortunate for me!) I have gotten to know which ones are good (fair) and which are terrible and to be honest if I saw a house I liked and they were with the terrible EA it would really put me off contacting them (EA) to view. If I really liked the property I would go to them direct and that would be my advice to you - but that situation hasn't arose yet for me so I don't know what the outcome of that would be !!
I always wonder why people put their property on the market with a not "too good reputation" EA ???
And before anyone's back gets up, no they're not all the same, my EA is pretty good, very professional, no reason to complain, our chain just keeps crashing !:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Because, unfortunately and especially in the areas I've worked the agents with bad reputations tend to be the agents that are the longest running and biggest. I suspect that they become complacent and feel that they don't have to work hard or promote customer service because they will get clients based on the fact that they have been around forever! My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

Thanks for all the comments
I suppose its each to their own, and i can see and appreciate others views on not been offered other houses
The lady was lovely before any one comments, i was just surprised by the amount of things she tried to sell me.
maybe they offered the best valuation, that must be a motivator,
my EA didn't give me the highest valuation, but i just felt right dealing with them, i nipped into the office (didn't give my name) before i decided who to go with and they where really professional, helpful and friendly, the EA who gave me the highest valuation didn't even acknolwedge me when i went into browse.2010 challenges

We dumped our first EA exactly for this reason - they never answered the phone even when we called them for an update. They kept telling us we'll never sell before xmas, but when we sacked them off and employed another EA we had 3 viewings in 2 weeks and an offer which we accepted in Dec. Important thing is to negotiate as shorter term contract as possible with no tie in so you can get out and employ an EA who does what they say they're going to do.0
