Wanted: Capsule wardrobe ideas for travelling light holiday.

This probably should have gone in the travel/holidays thingy but you people here seem soooo very knowledgeable and helpful........ :p

I'm off on a 2 week holiday in the sun soon, (first hol on my own without a man for suitcase porterage  ), and I want to be able to travel as lightly as possible taking just the bare minimum but I'm at a loss as to quite what to take. Activities will include swimming/sunbathing/walking/bit of sightseeing/shopping/casual meals so no need for anything dressy. Any packing/holiday experts to give me any tips please?

Many thanks icon7.gif

    hiya

just packed for my long weekend to Barcelona (i am soooo excited - my birthday pressie from my boyf - obviously he's not a member of mse!!!)

It's taken me a while but here's what i have gone for
bikini (suggest two for two weeks)
underwear - take travel wash and just pack enough for one week
usual toiletries but have decanted into travel sizes - used my free boots advantage card freebie for this too!
1 pair flip flops that go with every outfit (silver so easy to match)
1 pair heels that go with everything - automatically smartens up outfit
couple of necklaces/earrings - again dresses up daytime outfit for nighttime without need for new outfit!
1 sightseeing outfit - linen cutoffs and white t-shirt
1 chilling in cafes outfit - floaty skirt and coloured t-shirt
NB - each part of above outfit can be worn together making 4 outfits in total and each can be dressed up or down with flip flops or heels making 8 possible combinations.

tip - go for colours that work well together and have neutral basics like a white t or beige trousers.

travelling outfit - jeans and t-!!!! with a lightweight jacket.

have an amazing holiday and i hope i've given you a couple of ideas xxx

    I've been Money Tipped!
    i would suggest the following:

    2 bikinis/cossies
    3 casual tops
    2 pairs light trousers
    1 skirt
    2 dresses/1 casual 1 smarter (for evening)
    2 pairs shoes/ 1 casual 1 smarter
    walking boots (if needed)
    jacket for cooler weather
    underwear
    night clothes
    sunscreen
    sunglasses
    reading material
    bug repellent
small first-aid kit (plasters, waspeze etc)
    Any medication required.

don't bother with travel wash, just decant normal stuff into small bottle, same with hair/bath stuff.
    can't think of anything else.

    Hi dorsetmiss,

As your thread has now dropped off the front page of Old Style, I have moved it over to the travel board to see if you get more replies. In the meantime have a look at this website: One Bag
