LHA - but not on JSA & no income?

Hi guys

If you are claiming JSA and LHA, and you sign off from JSA and are currently earning nothing, does your LHA get stopped? For example you may have saved money from your JSA and for one reason or another decide not to be on JSA anymore, does this cause problems in terms of LHA? Can LHA still be continued if there is no income/JSA?

Personal experiences are highly appreciated also.

Thanks :)

LHA will probably stop when your JSA stops and you will have to re apply, they will of course wonder what you are managing to live off if you have no income and I suspect they will require bank statements etc again.

    HI Zaralondon

LHA is not dependent on your getting JSA but if the Jobcentre tell your LA before you do, they may suspend your claim for LHA and ask you to confirm what income you have.

It is not rare for people to come off JSA and still get LHA but we would need evidence of what income you had to live on.

Not sure that signing off JSA if you haven't found work is a brill idea tho as you are then going to miss out on things that come with it like free prescriptions, NI stamps etc. The LA might also be suspicious as to why someone would chose not to receive the money each week meant to help them meeting their living costs?
