Honda FR-V or Citroen C4 Grand Picasso
Hi
I have a quick question, I need a larger car to accommadate 2 forward facing car seats and an adult in the back seat and am thinking of either an FR-V or a C4 Grand Picasso.
I have owned 2 Honda's and really liked them (currently own an 08 civic) but am worried the boot on the FR-V is not big enough for a double buggy plus luggage etc. However, I'm a little concerned about the reliability of citroens and how they hold their value.
Is anyone able to offer me any advice, as I'm not sure weather to go for the more reliable, but smaller FV-R or the larger and more practical C4 Grand Picasso.
Thanks for your help

Honda more reliable, but they have odd seating position which may render some seats unusalble due to childseats.
The C4 will be more usualble as a big car tho. Not sure on reliability though...0 -
As Harveybobbles but!
FRV sales figures woeful therefore Honda pulling it, means you may get a bargain.
C4, built by French people, enough said (and I have French ancestry, trust me I know what i'm talking about...)'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

I've had a diesel FR-V Sport since new in 2006 and it has been a brilliant car. I currently have a 5 year old foster child and therefore have a full size car seat + 2 daughters 12 and 14 and there is no problem with space either in the car or in the boot.
On the odd occasion where I need more boot space, all 3 of the rear seats fold down flat individually so you can put things in longways as well.
The three in the front works well and both my daughters sit comfortably in the front - leg room can be increased in the middle seat by sliding it back, the same is true for the middle rear seat. I average over 50mpg as well through careful driving so for a bigger car it is fairly frugal.
I would definitely go for the Honda and if you can stretch to the 2.2l diesel go for it, it's a super engine, and the diesel model will hold it's value better - according to Parkers my car is still worth over 10,000 part-ex after over 3 1/2 years (I'm not looking to sell though!). I thought it would drop in value after they discontinued it but values are holding up well and should do for a while. A second hand Honda will definitely be worth more than a comparable Citroen in 2 or 3 years time.
According to Parkers, the dealer price on a 1.6HDi SX (so a fairly basic model) on an 07 plate (so a year younger) is only £11425. A 2.0HDi 16V VTR Plus would sell for over £12000 on a 56 plate but it's over 2 seconds slower to 60 (heavier car and smaller engine). Depreciation graph.Bottom figure is £6045
This compares to a dealer price on a 2.2 iCDTi SE of £11820. You would definitely get a newer Citroen for your money but I would still go for the Honda - slightly biased view I know.:rotfl:
Hope this helps. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat0
