Tax Credit Help

  • If he actually did work then there is no reason why this would not be added. There would need to be referrals sent and waiting for the change to be made if it happened before the beginning of this year.

    HOWEVER...

I don't think this has actually been caused by the employment changes. Did you give them a new estimated income when he changed his job? If not, chances are that you have been receiving too much for the level of your income for the full tax year. If not, then there is a major problem.

Just to let you know, if you do have an overpayment, you have the right to dispute it (the complaint will not do this). Phone the helpline and ask for an overpayment dispute form (or you can download one from their website), fill it out and send it back. EVERY call to the helpline is recorded so they can listen to the previous calls in need be.

Finally, if the overpayment is for this year, it will not be confirmed until the tax year finishes and you do your annual declaration (so do it as soon as you get it through the post).

    I hope this helps you!

    Good luck!

    Thanks for the replies

Dundeediva - It has nothing to do with the change of jobs, he was temping and then the company took him on permanently his wage didn't change, nor did his hours the only thing that changed is the person who pays him and when that changed I rang them up to tell them. What they are saying is when my partner stopped getting paid by the agency, he stopped working altogether, they are saying that he has not worked since March, but he has. The amount they say we owe is the total amount of money we have received so not technially an overpayment but all the money.

I have now filled out a new form and have visited my enquiry centre. They agree with what I am saying and said I was and still am entitled to WTC. I will get a dispute form and take it from there

    Thanks
