Kitchen Loan PPI

I took out a loan about 11 years ago to pay for a kitchen... The loan was sorted out with the kitchen company.
I was recently sorting paperwork out and realised that PPI was sold to me at the time but I do not recall agreeing to it at the time.
I wrote to the company using the standard letter for PPI re-claim.
They wrote back saying that as I was sold the loan over 6 years ago I have no grounds for complaint. They also said that as it was so long ago they couldnt follow up on any details. However I provided them with all the paper work.
I guess my question is, do I have any ground to persue the complaint. I know I'm outside of the 6 years you are allowed to claim for but I was paying this loan up until last year, which means I was paying for the PPI and the interest on that.
Shall I keep going or do I have no grounds to complain?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome
I would write back to ask them to reconsider and enclose "copies of the paperwork you have, but not the originals".
If they say they are unable to deal with it then take them to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS), hopefully they will be able to investigate this for you, otherwise we will take it from there with other options.
Keep on at them, good luck and please let us know how you get on.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Hi, as this was over 6 years ago you took this out for you to actually get the complaint into FOS you would have to find out if the company were members of the GISC (General Insurance Standards Council) as FOS can only deal with complaints if PPI was taken out since Jan 14th 2005 OR before that if the firm is a bank or a member of the above at the time of taking out your loan and PPI.I took out a loan about 11 years ago to pay for a kitchen... As regards them telling you about the 6 year rule, then this can be overlooked if you only just became aware of the misselling recently due to media attention.
Don't give up though as there is always another avenue you could try if your complaint is unsucessful and that is the "insurer". FOS is trying to make insurers responsible for sales if the firm was not regulated at the time.
