Adverse Possession Experience

In the process of an aquisition and there is an old piece of land that is being aquired under an adverse possession as it's not on land reg and should be but the title of the strip is held by someone else just as a bit of back ground.

Does anyone know how long the aquisition of title can take using Adverse possession I am not entirely convinced with the answers being given by the legal's and wondered if anyone on here had any real life experience of the process.

    No, that only applies in cases where the area being aversely possessed is already registered at the Land Registry. If it isn't registered, which is what OP says, then the period is 12 yaers to get a Possessory Title at the Land Registry and a further 12 yaers before you can apply to upgrade it to Absolute Title.

    Thanks for the feedback, turns out the land is registered, just trying to understand how long the process takes for the title to be transferred reading about it seems the other party have 65 days to respond to our request.

    Having re-read wasn't totally clear in my op in so far the land is registered to someone but not to piece of land of the property we are buying though it should have been this dates back over 24 years that it's not been quite right!!
