Very rough guide, assuming 3.5p/kwh for gas and 10p/kwh for elec. I am also assuming you have a metric gas meter?

    1846 kwh Electric @ 10p = £184.60 + Standing Charges
    2136 kwh Gas @ 3.5p = £74.76 + Standing Charge (with metric meter)

If you Gas meter is imperial, then it'll be about £211.57 + Standing Charge

Gets a bit more complicated if you have a higher/lower rate though.

I have fixonline 3 and it is a no standing charge tariff and if it is for 91 days it will be £245.27 in total including the 22.2% discount
or if your gas meter is imperial, then it'll be £348.88 in total including the 22.2% discount

I was pretty close then, not knowing about the discount and guessing at the unit price! :D

I have a spreadsheet with the fixonline 3 tariff it is just a matter of putting in the kWh and how many days they cover.

  • ok oh has checked gas meter and it has ft on end that means its imperial right?

I really appreciate the help, just not that great with maths

so that means my bill is elec £184.60 gas £245.47? = £264.07 which is £88 a month and we have been paying £85?

Is that right? So were okay?

The discount varies by region and the price of the electricity also varies. But if is the same as St999 then it would be £111 per month you are using, not £88.

    (78% of £430 is £335)
  • oh ok :- l I just added the gas and elec together, where did I go wrong, told you I am crap at maths

I thought St999's £348.88 included both fuels and has the discount taken off - £116 per month if it is over three months? (Sorry, it's getting worse:).)

    electricity is £221.64 - 22.2% = £49.20 = £172.44
    gas is £226.79 - 22% = £50.35 = £176.45

    Total = £348.89

assuming that the usage is over 91 days and you get the 22.2% discount that I get

My usage over the past 91 days has been 1074 kWh electricity costing £110 and 7326 kWh gas costing £210 and that is 2 people in a 3 bed semi with 270 mm insulation and double glazing and warm air heating that has been on continiously since before Christmas but turned down during the night
