I was a chewer, I used to chew the flannels at bathtime for the soapy taste also cuffs, pillowcases and hankies. At school it was pencils, pens books, things for counting, my mum used to have to buy me those rubbery pencil toppers that were like fruit and veg characters, but they'd only last a few hours. I did grow out of it eventually! It helped me concentrate, I still have to stick my tongue out now at 45 when doing something tricky! My oldest son was very dribbly and would chew the necks of his clothes and ruin them, he did this until he was about 8 or 9. It's a good suggestion to attach something chewy onto a break-away lanyard, he can tuck it inside his shirt when not needed.

A little bit of self-promotion I'm afraid but my company has starting importing a big range of chewlery and chewy tubes as it's so hard to get them in the UK.
We stock Chewlery in several styles and colours suitable for both boys and girls. Check out the Mayer-Johnson website and search for Chewelry0
