Hello I have decided to move from HSBC to the two following banks due to HSBC's security flaws which has caused me to lose a HUGE amount of money, (BTW I am 14)
I want a debit card with my account, and I have decided to go for Barclays or Natwest, but then I am confused because I dont want to end up with something that I dont want.
I saw on their website that they offer a Visa Connect card, which I have not heard of, nor have I seen any shop or online retailer accept that particular card. So is this some new scheme which is yet to set it's stone?
I also noticed that Natwest offers a normal Visa card. But then again I've heard that Natwest have recently been switching from the horrible Visa Electron to Visa Debit. Despite the fact that some of Natwest's current customers have received a new Visa card, whilst others are still using their Electron, if I sign up now will I get an electron or Visa debit?
I would also like to know your opinions on the latter banks, when it comes to teen accounts. I know most of the questions may sound stupid but I know nothing about banking! Lol.

What security flaws do HSBC have that the others don't?0

And I have also now noticed that Abbey's old website is not Santander. Last night it was Abbey, and now I have realised that they have switched from Visa Electron to Visa Debit.
Opinions on the 3 banks then lol! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
The 'Connect' card is basically a Visa debit. 'Connect' is just the brand name of Barclays debit cards. It will be accepted when there is a Visa sign.
If you decide to open a Barclays account, only one ID is needed (passport or driving licence). Accounts details provided on the same day. Very efficient! Card & PIN arrive within a week.
Natwest switched it's Solo & Maestro cards to Visa debit. They haven't issued Electron cards before. You will get a Visa debit if you open an account with them.0 -
Note that you cannot have online banking at your age with Natwest - you have to be 16 or over to use theirs, for some unknown reason.0
