time limit on paying the bill

Have a credit card with Virgin (mbna).

I noticed a gradual decrease in the time allowed before the bill is due each month from when i actually get it in the post.

i used to get the bill and the payment due date would be over 2 weeks away.
Over time the gap has reduced.

I had my bill in today and i have been given 7 working days to pay.

Are there any rules as to how much notice i should have to pay the bill? Given the way that they have reduced the time spans so far, my next bill is likely to come in after the due date!!

    No, there are no rules.

Even if you didn't receive your bill until after the payment date due to a postal strike for instance, you are still responsible for paying the bill on time.

Have you considered registering on their website, so you can view bills online (as well as on paper) and get an email everytime a new bill is ready.

You may also want to pay by direct debit to ensure you don't miss a payment.

    Regards

The Virgin card has 50 days interest free doesn't it? So that's around 19 days, or just under 3 weeks, from statement close off to payment due.

From this month's bill, what were the:

    1. Statement date
    2. Payment due by date
    3. The date you received the bill through snail mail

Pay for something on the 6th Jan, next statement date is say 4th Feb, payment date about 20th Feb.

P.S. Not from statement date but from the purchase date (up to 50 days)
