I hit an uninsured driver....not sure where I stand?

She will probably change her stance when what we call the "Pub effect" kicks in0

But taking their car away might!
A fairly recent addition to police powers for unlicensed, disqualified, untaxed or uninsured drivers - more power to their elbow as far as I'm concerned.
Now, if the car was delivered directly to the crusher then yes.... but doesn't it just get impounded so it can be collected by the offender or one of their licensed and insured associates at a later date... which seems to defeat the whole point once again.0 -

The car has to be collected by someone who has insurance registered to the car and a full driving licence.
But even taking the car away is no deterrent all they do is buy a banger with no MOT for £50-£100 and don't worry about it getting impounded or crushed as that £100 car is cheaper than the insurance premium, the MOT cost, the road tax, the driving licence cost and probably cheaper than the fine they get.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Thanks for all the replies on this. OH has a meeting today at work to discuss who was at fault and whether he has to pay. The police have told him that they wouldn't be putting that either party were at fault as there were no witnesses to the incident. In the meantime OH is going to get a copy of his contract to check if it states that he would be reliable for the excess.
Thanks for the replies.Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -

Or in the case of my chavvy neighbour, they just wait a week and buy another £200 wreck and carry on driving, cutting off the 'tag' they are made to wear without ever seeming to suffer any punishment, and parking next to my fully taxed and insured car :rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0
