I'm always complaining about the unfair age discrimination in the whole benefit system.
With long term incapacity benefit, someone aged under 35 when they claim gets more than £16 a week than somebody who is aged over 45 when they claim. People aged between 35-45 when they first make their claim get £8.50 week more than those of us unlucky enough to be aged 45 or over when becoming ill or disabled.
It's about time the benefit system was made fairer by either making everybody equal & giving the same rates to all regardless of how old you are.
The way it is now, the older you are the less you get.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
There was talk of one single benefit- with different elements for different circumstances. It would help everyone, get benefit processed quicker, know exactly what you're entitled to. Its outdated, the govt are changing the whole of the process, but the benefits processing side of it is still in the dark ages..RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

JSA is only £45? That wouldn't even cover my rent!"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

The Government seems to expect under 25s to live with their parents.
Housing benefit for those on JSA is normally the full rent bill if in council or housing association housing, but in private housing it may not cover all the rent if the rent is considered more than is necessary for adequate accommodation in that area. A room in shared accommodation is considered adequate for a single person under 25, whereas over 25s are "allowed" a whole flat to themselves, provided the rent is cheap.0 -
Everyone young is skint, therefore if they opened the gateway to U25's there really wouldn't be any money left! It is expected that you have a low paid job when you are 18, 19, 20... but it is also expected that you won't have as much to pay for as you (probably) won't have kids, a mortgage...
Don't know, that's just my ten penneth!0
