Just a quick note to let you all know how things are going. Been Overpaying now since January and can't believe how much has come off the mortgage in such a short time, my calculations make it £6,784.70 in 9 months. I would just like to say to anybody looking through the forum and undecided about overpaying, I've just got one thing to say: Just do it, how ever much you can afford.

Thats all from me for now

Hi all. This my annual update, started this overpaying business almost a year ago to the day. My GF and I have found it easier as the months have passed but have had a few tough months too. A quick calculation shows me that i've already knocked off £9053.61 in 12 months which is unbelievable and makes it all worthwhile.
I would like to thank everyone at MSE.com and all the Money savers on the forums, your information has helped me a great deal (Keep up the good work)

  • Good work on the over paying :)
As it's been said before it's amazing how small changes over a long term make a huge difference.
Keep it up, reading your posts helps me keep focussed on getting rid of our mortgage as soon as possible!

PS you should try to post more often, there's a gap of 3 months between posts, and they make interesting reading.

    Hi all,
Sorry I've been away for so long. We had some major going ons in the last few months, Firstly my girlfriend is Pregnant and due in September, with that news our tenant moved out in February, then at the end of February we had a fire, Luckily no one was hurt. Unfortunately we are still not back in the house as repairs are being carried out.
We are still managing to make overpayments but a budget review will be taking place shortly ha ha. We come out of our fixed 6.99% deal in October onto a variable rate of 2.25% above the BBR which would currently be 2.75%. I'm unsure what to do at the moment as the fixed deals available are not very good at all.
Thats all for now, speak soon
