Can you claim money from Easyjet?

I bought an Easyjet flight that was subsequently cancelled. I was offered to get my money back or change the flight at no cost. Sounds fair, but the fact is that I lost my first choice date, for which I had paid, at the time, £10 more before taxes than the date when I finally got the trip. I have written to Easyjet customer services and am still waiting for their response, but if anybody has been through a similar experience or has any advice I would like to hear it. I do not think it is fair that you pay more for a certain date and then end up with the date you originally discarded, when you could have had the same deal for less money and all because or THEIR cancellation...

As far as I’m aware - If a flight time is significantly altered within fourteen days of travel then the carrier must pay compensation. Calling a cancelled flight rescheduled is irrelevant as far as the regulations are concerned.
