  • I cannot really see any thing wrong with the pcn, hopefully someone better than i can assist ther. Can you check out the width of the road, York St, to see if they forgot to put the correct amount of warning signs.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    These roads off Duke St:
    York St
    Cornwallis St
    Nelson St
    all have 2 signs

Kent St only has 1 sign, but needs 2

Campbell St and Suffolk St are one way streets and only need 1 sign, but they both have 2

These roads off St James St:

    Duncan St
    Hardy St
    Nelson St
    Cornwallis St
all only have 1 sign where 2 are needed.

In short their signage is an inconsistent mess

Following the route you drove on Google Streeets, I can't see a single sign.
You need to check that on the ground, but if that is so, then you have a slam dunk. If not you can still go with the inconsistent signage.

    Great news Orford!

Owens_2k, you'll need to physically go and check all the entrances to the CPZ (not just rely on Google which may be a year or more out of date) but going by Orford's post it seems you may have grounds for appeal.:D

If some entrances to the zone are improperly signed and you can prove that, then AFAIK it doesn't even matter if that wasn't the route you took. Have a read of similar threads about Council tickets on pepipoo.com here:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=30

Do be aware that Councils often just turn down the first appeal at PCN stage, and even the second (formal) appeal at Notice to Owner stage. You may have to take it to adjudication to force the Council's hand.

I would advise that you check the actual signage at all the entrances to the zone, take pics, and then post up your pics and PCN scans on a new thread on pepipoo. Draft a letter of appeal based on what you've learned from your photos and your reading of other threads on the link above. Then post a scan of your draft appeal letter on pepipoo before sending it to the Council, so that posters can advise you with any tweaks needed to the wording or any other points for the appeal.

    Good luck!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks for the replies.

I plan to go down the route tomorrow and take some photographs, is there anything i need to have in the photos?

i.e when i take a picture of the sign should i get a building or some landscape in the background to prove the location?

If i do find that the route i took had no signs what is the next step of my appeal?

    Once again thanks!

Also im not familiar with the acronym AFAIK 'actually for all i know'?

i.e when i take a picture of the sign should i get a building or some landscape in the background to prove the location? Yes just a general view of the entrance road to the CPZ showing the signs (or preferably lack thereof)

If i do find that the route i took had no signs what is the next step of my appeal? At this stage you send an informal appeal stating why the PCN is invalid

    Once again thanks!

As Far As I Know, but your definition is probably nearer the mark:D
  • Well, i went and checked the sinage today and, every street was double signed. And I also found two signs on the route i took, albeit far away!
