Not true.

As the importer you are responsible for the declaration. If you allow them to mark it as a 'gift' when it is not then you are 'knowingly involved in the fraudulent evasion of a tax or duty'. Alas you are indeed breaking the import laws. :j

You maybe waiting some time then as you could be charged many months after the item is received.

just a note bought a psp from fleabay from hong kong , was happy when it arrived with seemingly no duty , then 2 months later recieved a bill from fed ex , for the tax ,collection charge , etc , etc , but still came back about shop price , so was happy but you need to make sure you add the tax just in case ,to the price you pay , the same seller was selling these for £20 - 30 more at the time , i happend to hit a quiet spell , so could have ended up a dear console ! all the best andy

There is a major and minor caveat to that.

Biggie First...

Carts destined for the Chinese variant (the IQue DS) WILL NOT play on any other variant, as it has different firmware to handle the extra character the language needs. The Chinese one WILL handle Non Chinese Carts.

That said..

Any Region DS game will play in Any Region DS, HOWEVER if you have a "regional" option wifi options on the games thats locked to the Games region.

Putting it in english and using an example...

Mario Kart has 4 WFC game settings,

Friends - Against people you have registered as friends
Rivals - People of a similar Skill Level
Worldwide - Anyone
Regional - Anyone in your region.

The problem may lie in the last one, if you have a US cart in a UK console you'll only see USA players on the Regional settings, not a biggie but it means you may not see as many players due to the time difference (Ie they are asleep till noon).

Finally playing against different region cards (but not via the Nintendo WFC service, ie just locally) may or may not work depending on the the card. (IE I have Mario Cart UK, and you have Mario cart USA, In reality it's probably more an issue against Japanese carts due to language differences.

Hi all,

Quick update. Recieved this On friday which is a bout a weeks delivery time. Did not get charged any duty, was marked low so it wouldn't. It came with a DS UK plug so no need for adaptors etc. Have tried it out and no dead pixels and came with 2 stylus. The price i got charged was £74.12, so all in all i'm really chuffed.

Also i wann just say i know all this crap about taxes and import duty etc, but i feel i pay enough in Taxes etc. (about £4,000 a year and get nothing for it. i.e. need to also have private medical, dental, optical etc. ) So !!!! 'em if i can get away with out paying the extortion Duty to "Rip-off britian" then i'll do it.
