Two weeks ago I had a day off work .I went to the estate agent and asked about veiwing a house .They said all viewings had to be done during the day ,no evening viewing and no weekend viewing .There where no offers on the property I was interested in .It was arranged I could view the house Last Monday at 5.30pm .So I had to wait a week to get a viewing as I couldnt do daytime viewings .By the time I got my viewing there was an offer on the house £7,000 above the asking price .
Another local estate agent will not do any viewings ,the vendor has to do all viewings .If like most people I am out at work all day to earn money so I can buy a house ,when an I suppose to view a house .

Id put a note through the letterbox of the house explaining to the vendor how the estate agent are treating potential buyers. that might wake them up.0

With the first house it could well be the vendor who is insisting on daytime viewings only because they don't want their family life disrupted during evenings & weekends for one reason or another.
With the 2nd house there is a possibility that the vendor prefers to be there to do the viewings, rather than let the estate agent have the keys. Or there's a chance if it is a small ea office they may not have the staff available to do accompanied viewings.
Usually there is a good reason for these kind of things as estate agents do want to sell the house asap to get their commision so are unlikely to be deliberately awkward.:oThe bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
If you're confident you're going to sell easily anyway, why not arrange viewings at your convenience, which is what these people are doing.
If you're trying to buy in a fast moving market this makes buyers lives hard, but as long as there are enough buyers to buy the houses, you have to find a way around it i'm afraidAnnual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery0 -
A lot of it depends on the EA's in the area, some will have a policy of accompanying all viewings, while others will split the viewings with the vendor. I work in area where all the agents accompany all the viewings, many won't do viewings after 5pm because they finish at 5.30. Personally I'll do viewings upto 6.30 during the week.
I've had a number of occassions where people have been booked in to see a property on a Saturday, as thats 'the only time the Vendor can do', with another agent & they've viewed with us on a Tuesday evening & offered on the property.0 -
Hi,
I work for an estate agents and I work around the clients availability. Maybe in that case, the estate agent simply did not want to do viewing in the evening or weekend, as it interupts there own personal life. I finish at 6pm everyday, but am happy to do viewings as late as 8.30pm.
If that ever happens again, find out the estate agenst name, then go into the actual estate agency and ask to speak to the manager and complain, because that is not fair.
Sorry to hear that!0
