Best product to banish dark circles?

I'm plagued for life with terribly thin and purple skin under my eyes. I'm terribly pale and so the blueish-purple circles under my eyes stand out a mile - definately not attractive :(

Unfortunately, this isn't due to lack of sleep, dehydration, old age (i'm only 21) or any other self inflicted reason - this is just how my skin is :( Rubbish!

I was wondering if anyone knew of any rememdy, product or miracle method of reducing, improving or getting rid of my awful dark circles?

Thanks in advance x

  • I don't have the answer I'm afraid but I totally sympathise - I have the same problem. I always look like I haven't slept but drink over 2 litres of water a day and get plenty of sleep. A beautican told me there really is nothing you can do for them. I've tried every eye cream under the sun (currently using Eye Con by Benefit but I see no difference) Even under eye concealers don't help!
  • There is no product to get rid of them, you can hide them with concealer makeup.

  • Lemon Aid by Benefit is great!
  • I developed dark circles when I went onto HRT(I'm 55 now) and they never went away.
I bought some Hylexin,it cost me about £50 for a 15ml tube but after 2 months of use I don't need concealer anymore.
So it was well worth it.
I would'nt of dared not use concealer before but now I can honestly say the dark circles have disappeared.
May be pricey but it works.

I have the same problem and use yellow tinted concealers and use them in the inner corners and first triangle of the eye rather than right round the whole area.

  • I have the same problem as OP, my under-eye circles are purple, I always look like I have done 10 rounds with Ricky Hatton :D

I get plenty of sleep (maybe sometimes too much!) I use Boots 17 pressed powder to conceal the circles, but it doesn't hide them completely. I will be watching this thread to see what other posters are coming up with. :)

I like the sound of hylexin, although not the price...! But to be honest if it works, I'd probably pay twice that to not always be worried if people are looking at my dark circles.

  • Thanks for all the replies - looks like I'm going to just have to lump it for now then :( Boo!

Trouble is, I'm SO pale that concealers are too orange for me. Even the 'ivory' shades are a joke on my skin. I can make a snowman look tanned :(

  • hey ywg,

I suffer really bad too and I'm only 22 so I sympathise with your problem- unfortunately its genetic for me

I use lemonaid by benefit to take away a lot of the redness (mine are more reddy than blue) and then this is my miracle concealer:

bobbi brown correcteur in bisque - it is £16 but it is the best under eye concealer I've found and I live with a make up artist so have tried quite a few!! They do light shades too and you can test them on the make up counters in house of fraser to find the right colour

The trick is to balance out the colours - so if you have a bluey tinge find out (google?!) what counteracts that colour. then bobbi brown on top!

I don't always use lemonaid as I don't always need it but on bad days it really does help.

Other than that I don't really know, I wouldn't recommend YSL touche eclat under the eyes as it highlights bags and makes them stand out even more - its only good for those without dark circles - plus it shows up so bad on photos.

(my make up artist friend's super tip - never ever wear touche eclat on your wedding day unless you want white panda eyes!!)

hope you find your solution! xx

Same problem here! I spent 10 years figtinh this problem and can confirm that there is nothing you can do. Just get over it.
I found that All about eyes from Clinique made my dark circles a bit better, so I even purchased it again.
I would second the andvice about Bobbi Brown bisque concealer. I also found it to be the best.
