Perhaps an original question

Hi

I would like to know what happens if I have a zero balance yet continue to pay money onto the card.

There never seems to be much information on this - the credit card companies tend to focus on the fact that people only ever spend money on their cards or at the most get the balance back to zero.

But what if someone were to pay £50 only a zero balance credit card for a year? Would this upset the overall logic of the system? Would there or could there be any benefit?

Thanks
Adam.
Thanks,
Adam.

Are you asking what happens if you have a credit balance on your card?

If you are, then nothing happens. You have a credit card with an ever increasing possitive balance but a credit card does not pay interest on a possitive balance.

The computer software used in the credit card industry is sophisticated enough to deal with a positive balance IMHO.

Some cards now do pay interest on a credit balance.

Egg money in fact encourages users to 'prepay'

Stoozers have been able to use a positive balance as a way of getting balance transfers out of the cards system and into a current account by asking for a 'refund'. However, some banks have got wise to this and insist on the balance transfer being returned.

A large positive balance can sometimes lead to a money laundering enquiry on your account.

i went into a minus balance once so i'd assume thats what would happen.

instead of you owning them money, you would have say £50 before you start owning them again
