business phone line in-active

I run a small business from home. I used to have a BT homehub voip phone but it caused me nothing but trouble, needing re-booting all the time.
I decided to "port" my number to a company who supplies VOIP (Voice Over IP) services. This took over 2 weeks to complete and my business line was in-active for all the 2 weeks. This was a BT fault not the VOIP companies fault. After complaining to BT I settled with £50 compensation, which I now wish I hadn't.
This was well over a year ago now and I haven't had any problems since until now.
Last Tuesday I received an email from a client saying they tried to call me but my phone was in-active. I tried to call it myself and sure enough "The number you dialed has not been regonised" I don't know how long it had been like this so I dropped an email to the VOIP company and they told me that BT should be passing all my calls to them, so its a BT fault but the VOIP company are trying to sort it. It is now 6 days later and its still not working.
My concern is I could be loosing business as this number is on websites and directories. Does anyone thing I have grounds for compensation? Its hard to know how much business I could have lost but I think it is at least £1000 and counting!
Any advice?
Many Thanks
Mike
