Rather interestingly on this I asked the team in MSE towers and they all prefer the early pay - we do it here - though then again you'd hope they can all budget well wouldn't you.

  • For my main job, I get paid weekly so this makes no difference and for my part time job, we got paid normal time. I don't think it would make any difference to me to be honest as I tend to budget anyway.

Doesn't matter to me. We used to get the option to have some before xmas (not any more) but I never bothered.

I'm the same as others here - I budget on the calendar month, meaning it doesn't matter when I get paid, as long as I get paid before the month rolls over (and therefore I expect that money to be there). Before that time, that money might as well not exist, as I don't include it in any calculation! ;)

So technically my answer in this poll is... neither! :)
  • What difference does it make? One still earns the same amount over the festive period - surely when the 'early' pay arrives, and by the very nature that it's early, there are still funds available from November's salary? Therefore the early pay doesn't actually need to last 5 weeks...

I'd have gone with a "makes no difference" option if there had been one, but of the two available, I went for "it hurts" as although I'm very good a budgeting and allowing for a longer period til next payday, I have to keep DH's sticky mitts off it, which is a bit of a nause; he's still under MSE and OS training. LOL

Companies pay staff early because they don't want to employ people doing payroll over the Christmas period - it's a cost saving exercise and isn't done out of having the staffs interest at heart.

Rubbish. Modern banking and payroll systems allow the payments to be set up in advance and sent out on a given date. It's done that way every month. you don't think the payroll dept. sit there each payday and input each bank transfer request manually do you?

It doesn't make much difference to me as I budget for the month/year anyway.

I ticked "its a help"... Its a help to me but not for Xmas... :p I tend to budget for the year so being paid early gave me an extra few days to make sure my money was in the correct account for the start of 2010 and a new budgeting year!! :rotfl:

    ... sad I know... :o :rotfl:

Another "Makes no difference" here. So didn't vote.
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries
  • I try to budget each month but its very difficult on a part time wage and a lump sum of rent, council tax, gas, electricity, phone etc etc. So being paid early for me was not great and now I am skint and looking forward to January's pay with exactly the same every month with nothing left after everything is paid out. (I even had to sell my car because I couldn't afford to run it).
