Haven't watched Misfits as I didn't think it'd be my sort of programme but adore Being Human. I too love the black humour, in fact the entire premise. If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0

It's good to see someone recommending Misfits! Most of my friends watch Heroes and Being Human, but Misfits seems to have totally slipped under the radar. I think the adverts for it really let it down. Although I enjoyed it as much as Being Human and the first season of Heroes, I think the characters are generally more interesting as they're all somewhat selfish and loathsome, but written so well that they're still compelling to watch.
I'm sad they made the new series of Being Human "darker"; for me, it was the lighter banter between characters and the small details about how they were getting on with their lives that really made it wonderful, and I don't want it to be more serious or have more dramatic plots than it already did. US shows usually take themselves far too seriously, and it's nice having an alternative to that.0 -
I love both,
Misfits for being a new premise, platform or whatever you want to call it and I agree, you shouldn't like some of them but I find myself talking at the telly! It's dark comedy at its best. It's exciting and I don't know what's coming next.
Being human is great too, I think the actors befit the roles funnily in attitude and looks (sorry if I offend) All chosen wisely. All reluctant heroes, trying to do what's right.
I'll go with Misfits first, Being Human second but only just.0 -
I like Heroes but I agree that it's not at all like Misfits and Being Human. Heroes is at its best when it's not so laden with self-absorbed angst - stuff with Claire and Hiro being most appealing with additional dashes of drama. BH and Misfits are more real as they communicate in ways that people recognise as real, even if it isn't particularly nice. People joke and don't take each other seriously while also having some quite heavy story lines in there. It's as though it starts from how would I feel if this happened to me rather than the overplayed Heroes back-story with the Petrelli family. Oddly enough the beginning of the new season of Heroes seems to be a bit lighter than it has been and some humour has returned - thankfully!
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0 -
Misfits has completely passed me by!!! I'll have to check it out. I really love Being Human tho. I saw the first series which I loved and hope I enjoy the 2nd just as much. i love the fact that its going to be darker and george (well, the actor) has been working out!!
Now, what I'm really looking forward to is the next series of Dexter. (A miami police forsenic scientist turned mass murderer!) This has to be one of the best things I've seen on TV in ages.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
I absolutely ADORE Misfits! I was a huge fan of Heroes when it first started, but season 2 started to go downhill and I didn't watch the last 2 episodes of season 3 because it became boring and stagnant. I'm hoping that Misfits doesn't go the same way because the concept is great, although because the series was limited to just 6 episodes the plot line seemed very focused and you didn't have to wait very long things to start falling into place.
A group of people that I would generally avoid, getting powers that they don't understand or know how to use, and forming a genuine 'alliance' (for want of a better word). Couple this with the sheer comedy of the script writing and 'Oh My God!' factor at some of the antics makes fantastic viewing.
On the other hand, I also loved Being Human as well. Although I still haven't watched the final episode of Season 1 as it became a bit boring towards the end. I will make a go of watching the second series on iPlayer but I not expecting great things from it.
