Need a bit of advice?!

Hi,

I am just after a bit of advice or hints on where to look to find out what benefits we may be entitled to.

Basically, my partner had our 2nd child in Mar 09, she has been on maternity until Dec 09 and now gone back to work Jan 10.

Our first child is 5 and in school.

Previously she was full time, now she has gone back part time only working 16 hours pw.

The household income is now less than £25,000.

I just need a few pointers on what we may now be entitled to and where to start looking.

We get tax credits and have kept them upto date with circumstance changes, but are there any other things we should or could be claiming?

People have said we may be entitled to things like school dinners, heating allowances, but I really don't know anything about this myself.

Thanks for any help.

    Liam Hi,

I don't think there is any benefits available for your family I'm afraid.
To get free school meals, heating allowances etc you need to be getting a prescribed benefit like Income support.

If your income is under £16,040 and/or you get Working tax credit you may be entitled to free school meals, you need to check with your local council.

If you google Warm Front Grant it will tell you the earnings threshold there also for their £3.5k grant
