3 Periods in 1 Month... Concerned?

Ok, I came off the pill about 18 months ago. It was progesterone only pill called Cerazette. I wanted to give my body a break from all the extra hormones and stuff.

Since then, i've slowly been getting more and more regular in my cycle. Until the last month. Each time I have a period it gets heavier and heavier and I have had 3 in the last 4 weeks. It's getting very frustrating for me and my OH (you can guess why)

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or has any advice?

Thanks :)

  • Go to your doctor!!

Are you sure each of these bleeds is a period? Any chance you could be pg?
  • Hi,

I had the same problem not too long ago. Consulted my doctor and was sent for a scan of my ovaries ( just like a baby scan ) had to drink tonnes of water hours beforehand slightly uncomfortable but was OK, turned out to be no problem in the end for me. Could be an infection I was told initially, or maybe your body is still adjusting to change? Or simply not taking your pill regular enough, approx same time each day etc

Best to seek a doctors advice to be sure it's nothing serious..

Well the last time I did a test was about 6 months ago. So there is a small chance. Very small!

Don't take this the wrong way but have you not had sex in that time?:D

I would go to the doctor's just to get it checked out. 18 months does seem a rather long time for your body to be readjusting.

Sorry to ask again but is each one definitely a period or could it be heavy breakthrough bleeding? How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

I once had a period that lasted 6 months ish and had to take something to stop it.

And it's already been said that you could be pregnant. I would take a test just to check ;)

Lol, no. Me and the OH have sex on a regular basis. He's just frustrated cos he can't get any at the moment!

I keep trying to get through to GP but what with all the snow I think they're closed.

What do you mean by breakthrough bleeding?

Breakthrough bleeding is where you bleed between periods - it's always something you should speak to your doctor about. They'll want to know how long you're bleeding for, if there's any pain, if you bleed after sex, if you are an exclusive relationship (to rule out infection - you'll prob be swabbed anyway) etc.
