Polar bears & bear experience anyone done it?

Hi my husband is celebrating a special birthday this year and would love to see the polar bears and bears in their natural habitat. Has anyone experienced a holiday of this sort or could recommend places to me. Could go any time of the year.

Churchill in Hudson Bay, Canada is a famous place to see polar bears October time. There are a few tailor make holiday companies in the UK who run this kind of holiday, and can provide you with free quotes. You can then see if you can do it cheaper yourself. :j

as for bears themselves, i have been to banff, in the canadian rockies twice now, (october 2007 and june/july 2009) both times i saw black bears, the first holiday was just before they start to hibernate, and the second holiday, saw a mother and 2 cubs, there is not necessarily a need to book a specialist holiday or excusrsion etc to see animals like these, just a lot of luck and be there during the right time of the year.

i also caught a glimpse of a grizzly last summer but was a long way off and could only see it with my aunts binoculars.

There is a highway through the rockies notorious for seeing them (think it was highway one??) goes through banff, jasper, past the glacier. also saw animals such as elk, mountain sheep (that look like goats, and the goats look like sheep lol) chipmonks, ospray eagles, deer
