perhaps you people who had trouble cancelling were 'trying to get your moneysworth ' , and were hoping to get as many free rentals as you could before cancelling.
i would suggest you just get the one film sent , then send it back and cancel , surely its possible to do this within the 14 day 'free trial' , if it wasnt possible how could they offer it?

You can't really advertise a '14 day FREE trial' - which only lasts 9 days according to customer services..can you? Bit of a scam. :mad:

Also - with Quidco, you have to see the entire 14 days through..and possibly NOT cancel your free trial in order to get cashback. :rolleyes:

Its 14 days but you have to cancel 5 days before the 14 days is up but if they havnt recieved the film back you cant cancel!

I got stung also with this!!!! I didnt even recieve my first dvd but when I called up to complain when cancelling I tried telling them I hadnt recieved anything to send back. 2 days after the 14day free trial I recieved my dvd!!!

I've done these before and not had any problems so I've signed up. We'll see what happens :P If I get the £18 it won't matter if I have to pay the £3.99 I suppose...

Mine has tracked at £18 after about an hour.

Do the trials work for games as well or is it just films?

You can order games, dvds etc. Personally I wouldn't use them again, I had a free trial and despite sending the dvds back recorded delivery which were signed for they continued to take money out of my account ( you have to enter credit card details in order to get the trial). It may have been a glitch when I ordered but I wouldn't take the risk again IMHO.

An alternative to the above post is to purchase the PAYG option from Lovefilm, either thru Topcashback or Quidco. You get £15 cashback if you purchase 4,9 0r 15 rentals, which last you up to 6months. It's a small profit, but if you choose 4 films, it costs £9.99. with auto top up. Again, it could be tricky cancelling. However, if you cancel after you've used 3 films and 'lose' the fourth, then you avoid being auto-billed for your next lot of 4 films. 3 films seen and a fiver up. Or, you can rent 4 films for £12.00 with the 'no auto top up' option. a smaller profit but having seen 4 films!

ive cancelled a few times with love films just keep saying you have to cancel and even when weve had stuf - think it was a postal strike - said that we were not going to pay when we didnt have it and they extended the free trail so they could recieve it. the trick is when you want to cencel send it back and take everything out the list and just be persistant on the phone

oh and no games on this free trial
