Course Funding

I have read in another thread that stage 2 qualification is O level, is stage 3 A or AS level and so on.

And where and when can further study be funded in general.

You need to be a bit more specific sunnyone.

Is it funding for yourself? If so, what qualifications do you already have and what do you wish to study? Are you in receipt of benefits at present? If so, which ones?
    Gone ... or have I?

For my daughter, she has GCSE`s high grades as in the equivilent to my O levels we were told and she was looking at going back to college and we assumed stage 2 was A levels or at best AS.

A full level 2 qualification is 5 GCSEs at a minimum of grade C. A full level 3 qualification would be a minimum of two full A levels (AS and then A2). There are lots of qualifications that are equivalent to A levels; what is she planning to study?
  • She's better off going to do her A Levels if she is under 19 because I am 22 and I have just completed an NVQ Level 3 in Health and it doesn't give me any UCAS points for Uni, it is recognised and sought after in my field of employment but none of the universities are interested in it unless I want to do Nurse Training in adult nursing. I cannot get onto a Midwifery BA with it, which was my hopes!
Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!

Which is why it's always a good idea to do your research and get independent advice before you start something.

Any Careers Adviser would have told you that you can't get into midwifery with only NVQ and you would also have found this out by looking at the relevant university websites.

My daughters 21 and has a son, she has worked with animals but not taken the NVQs she was supposed to do and I think she should sit down with someone independant and consider her whole working future/qualifications.

Shes looking for shop work at present but thats just to get some money coming in and not a career, she seems to be listening to me more since she had the baby but I dont know where to get the advice she needs, is 21 to old for connextions?

Connexions is for 13-19 year olds so I would suggest she gets in touch with Next Step instead, which offers advice on training, learning and work to people over the age of 20. Use the following link to find your nearest Next Step service. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/AdultLearning/DG_071762
