I have never been there before but heard that it`s good.Will be cooking on the bbq and eating out.Is it about the same price food and drink wise as Spain?

prices much the same in the resorts we have been in, local bars and resturants can be very cheap. Its nothing like spain as a country, I like spain as well but portugal and the people are very differant. I think you will love it.
