Newcastle to Bedford

What is the best way to get there? I've tried so many different ways - coaches, trains, coaches and trains, getting off at certain stations - but it's just making things more confusing.
I thought of taking a coach down to London, then getting a train from there to Stevenage, anyone know which station would be best for that?
Anyone have any ideas on the best priced way to get there?

When do you want to travel?0

Forget Stevenage - it is not a simple matter to get to Bedford from there. There is no direct bus. If you go to London by coach, get a train to Bedford - there's no bus service any more.
Easiest way by train is Cross Country from Newcastle to Sheffield or Derby then another (East Midlands) train to Bedford. Most of the time there would be just the one change
By coach change in Milton Keynes - there is a frequent bus service to Bedford and through ticketing is available.
There's all sorts of other ways, of which maybe the most direct is train to Peterborough, local train to St Neots then bus to Bedford - it has a stop near the station.0 -
I'm looking to go down at the end of January/beginning of February.

Thanks for the different options. I might look into Cross Country, I wonder if I could go directly to their site, or if that would make things more expensive? If not, I'll have to go by coach, but it takes so long, and with the weather the way it is...0 -
P.S. Would going Cross Country be best for Milton Keynes too? Apologies but I might be going there also.0

Can you get a train from newcastle to nottingham then to Bedford, or Newcastle to Birmingham then Bedford?
If you decide to get the bus from MK to Bedford it is the X5 you need I think.0 -
I might be able to get a train from those places.

You're right about the X5, I checked the website, but what they don't give is the prices for a simple single or return. You wouldn't happen to know how much either of those would cost from Bedford to Milton Keynes would you?
Thanks for your help.

Oh, and there is an Arriva bus 1/1C that goes to Milton Keynes (from Bedford) too. Would anyone know the price of that too - single or return? Thanks guys.

X5 fares are easily found on via google...I might be able to get a train from those places.

Thanks for that. I did a google search but all I came up with was fares for multiple days and one for students. I really appreciate it.
