We currently have a Technics SEHD350 Radio, cassette, CD player in the kitchen. Although we don't have it turned up loud, the sound quality is good at low noise levels. It has 60w speakers.
Due to space and moving on we were looking at a DAB radio with an Ipod docker and CD player.
The Roberts Sound 43 seems to fit the bill, but I can't find a spec that advises the wattage of the speakers.
I think there is also a Sound 53m but again I cannot find a spec.
Can anybody help please
Many thanks
BTW if this is the wrong place to post, could somebody point me in the right direction.

According to the User Guide which you can download in .PDF format from the Roberts Audio website, the speakers are 2 x 7W, though whether that is RMS or something else is not stated.
There's probably a similar document on their website for the other model you mention.0 -

Thanks for the reply.
Thats quite a big difference to what I currently have.
I looked inthat spec. and couldn't find this but I have now seen that the 53 has 2 x 8W.
What is "RMS"?0 -

Root Mean Square. This is where it becomes extremely difficult to compare output power from one product to the next. There are various ways of expressing power output, including RMS, Peak and PMPO (among others). RMS is the most conservative and fairest, which is why many companies don't use it. IIRC, 60W PMPO will often be more like 6W if expressed as RMS.
I suspect that you won't have any problem with 7W being loud enough without distortion, but for £200 plus, it would be worth contacting Roberts to see if they have a dealer locally to you where you can listen to one.
[Edit: there's a good wiki on audio output power here]0 -
Agree with fwor about listening to the Roberts radio before you buy it. I've got a Roberts RD-41 DAB radio-whichever room I try the reception is terrible. My older and cheaper Pure Evoke 1 is much better.I went away and now I'm back.:j:j0

DAB very much depends on what reception area you are in. For many it's the biggest tech let-down of this century - lots of money invested and hype yet the actual user experience not good.
See if you can bag in-store (online sold out) one of these nice M&S combined Internet + DAB radios that was on sale at under £50, you can always fall back on Internet if DAB disappoints:
