is your income enough for the lender to allow this?
what rate is your mortgage?
what loan rate can you get from the bank/other source?
How long do you need the loan for?
could you use a 0% credit card?
impossible to advise without a lot more info!0 -
Is there equity to spare in the property?0

Hi
mortgage currently 40,000
Value of prperty 100,000
Salary 40,000
Other credit : credit card owe £6,0000 -
Mortgage rate 3.7 %
Lender happy to give 10.000 and that rate would be 5.90 -
It seems hardly worth doing. Your mortgage is trivial, your salary is good. You should be able to knock that debt off in under a year with no trouble, unless you are having to pay off the !!!!!.

The general rule with debt is to minimise the cost of that debt whilst not taking unacceptable risks in terms of security.
So basically you should consolidate into cheap debt like your mortgage as long as you are not risking your ability to make the payments, as the penalty for not making them is much bigger (repossession).
Give your figures it seems very likely you could do this quite easily, though I don't know your full circumstances. A lender would probably agree too.
As G_M suggested, think about using other cheap debt as well (0% credit card debt is fine if you manage it carefully, though with handling fees it's rarely really 0%).
Also take care that your flexibility to repay suits you.0 -
