I don't know if this has been answered elsewhere or not. In all the years i've had insurance, i've never had to claim, however a friend had a recent claim and it left me pondering. Following an accident in his house his plasma television met with a nasty accident which resulted in his insurer settling the claim with DSG vouchers to replace it.
I own a plasma display and it's not something i'm going to walk into a high street store and buy should it get damaged. How do i get around this - my preference would be to source a new one, pay for it then send the receipt off for reimbursement - is this possible?

It depends very much on the policy conditions...it could be this is how it is written into the policy...read the small print first before contacting FOS0
