Hi
Seriously don't get a cheap Pyrolytic oven!
Think about it - to clean itself the oven has to heat up to 500 degrees, thats more than twice the maximum temperature of a normal oven, would you really want to trust a 'cheap' product at that sort of temperature?
The best makes for Pyrolytic ovens would be Gaggenau if you got stacks of money, Miele best overall value. Neff, Siemens or Bosch if you can't afford Miele. DeDitrch used to make decent Pyro ovens but wouldn't have one these days. Don't bother with anything else.
Good luck.

DeDitrich ovens are a load of rubbish, they might clean well but ours was always breaking down and I would never get another one (cost us a fortune as well and that was about 5 years ago).0

I had a pyrolitic oven 16 years ago and the self-cleaning was nothing short of miraculous. It was a free-standing dual fuel version, but I bought it in France and have forgotten the make now, sorry. However, I've been looking for a new built-in double oven and was impressed by Neff. Unfortunately, they only seem to do pyrolitic single ovens.
I agree with paying for a decent brand. It would be worth the money from the safety aspect alone. Just to warn you also that you need to ventilate the room very well (windows wide open and doors if poss) because the cleaning process generates a lot of black smoke. I used to abandon the kitchen until a while after the cleaning cycle had finished. However, once the oven has cooled down enough for the door to open, all that's left of the dirt is black ash, which is easy to clean up with a damp cloth.
If I can find an in-built double with pyrolitic main oven by a decent manufacturer at a price I can afford, I'll snap it up! I'll be following this thread with interest.
Good luck in your search!0 -
I don't think there are any double ovens with this feature. I have a Bosch single oven which I think was around £600.0

Hi
DeDeitrich used to make double ovens with the main cavity being pyrolytic, but as previously said wouldn't buy one now. The only other 2 cavity pyrolytic ovens that are available now are American type ones which are huge things 30" wide costing around £4,000 or more!
Single ovens are the way to go, then add a small oven, microwave, combination oven or a steam oven to give you more versatility than an old fashioned double oven.
