Hi.
I have 2 epson r285 printers, one of which is recognised on xp, and one of which isn't.
The computer isn't even recognising that an item is plugged into the USB port, no messages pop up and it obviously wont print.
I have ruled out all problems with usb cable and ports.... (different cables which I know work, and trying other devices int he ports, all of which work...)
It seems to me that there is no actual data "written" on the printer to let the pc know what it is... is this possible? if so, how do I tell the bloody pc that a printer is plugged in?
ahhhh!!! this has been driving me mad for about 3 hours. please help.

Sounds like you know what the problem is, the printer. Not much (i cant think of anything) you can do...0

I may be missing something, but why don't you just use the one that works, and forget about the one which doesn't? You surely don't want to print in stereo?

Your quite correct your pc thinks your other printer is already installed since it's identical to the first one. You need to manualy add the second printer but rename it during the installation process.0

Could easily copy the printer installed aswell then change the options as desired and rename it that way ?
The drivers are already installed, so it would just be a quicker method instead of reinstalling
Both methods would be fine..Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
