JVC aftermarket cd problems
Just bought a JVC cd player from a very reputable E.Bay seller, and have installed it in my Peugeot 406 along with a new facia panel.
However, it won't keep the memories that I have programmed, and strangely when I open the door and the interior light comes on, so does the cd player!!! I would rather it came on with the ignition, as it also doesn't switch itself off when exiting the car.
It is wired straight to the existing iso lead, barring the steering wheel controls, so does anyone have any ideas?

That's my mutt in the picture above.

Looks like you need one of these.0

Thanks Keith.
I kinda guessed I would need one, although when I bought the fascia plate from a local in car cd shop, he said it would work on the existing harness, to which I questioned his answer, but he was adamant. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
You need to check excactly which cable you need. Different years need different cables even though they all have ISO plugs. http://www.autoleads.co.uk/database.php0

sometimes its just a case of swapping a wire round on the cd players wires there are yellow and red wire's that have male and female connectors swapping them aslo sorts the memory probs out but research it first if your car requires it.0

That's right, and that is all that the adapter linked to in my earlier post does.atrixblue.-MFR-. wrote: »sometimes its just a case of swapping a wire round on the cd players wires there are yellow and red wire's that have male and female connectors swapping them aslo sorts the memory probs out but research it first if your car requires it.
So for a few pounds you don't have to think too hard. :beer:0 -
Well I did have a look at the exisiting harness, but to swap the wires around, would have meant damaging the spade connectors, and possibly the plastic plug that they are in, because they were so tight, so I spent the £3 on the replacement harness.
I'll let you know later in the week if it's successful when it arrives. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
With a JVC you may be able to move the fuse on the back of the unit. That will make the unit permanantly on. I don't think swapping the lives will sort this one as there is a perm + and a + switched by the door switch which times out after a few minutes.0
