House plans

Does any one know if and where I might find the original plans for my house, 1979 build, and how much they should cost. I am thinking of extending and they would be very useful in the planning application process. I have searched my local council web site and there is no mention of applying for copies.

Have you tried your council planning office? They should have a copy of the original planning permission.
I found the original plans for my house, plus its subsequent extension, on my council's website; they had scanned them in as PDFs going back to 1953.For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -

Was this an online service or did you have to go in to their office to request them and how much did it cost. Did they provide paper or electronic copies or both.Have you tried your council planning office? They should have a copy of the original planning permission.

It was online with downloadable PDFs - I guess it all depends on whether your council does the same. Mine is South Oxfordshire, tbh I was surprised they had bothered to scan in all the docs going back so long ago.For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
I am in south Northamptonshire and I can't find it on their web site. I have found PDFs for recent planning permissions, but only a few years back. Some of the approved drawings are so basic I am sure I could get planning myself if I can find the original drawings to use as a starting point. I also seem to remember the solicitor showing me them when we bought the house. Any way I think I need to phone the local council office tomorrow and maybe my bank as the deeds may include a copy of the plans. It was online with downloadable PDFs - I guess it all depends on whether your council does the same.
