Whats the biggest sacrifice you've made in your debt free journey?!

Just interested to know what people gave up to push them along on their debt free journey........personally I gave up smoking (which turned out to be one of the best things ever!!!) but I didn't have my hair cut or coloured for a year and a half which was hard!!!! I did all the other stuff too ie:changing utility suppliers, reducing bills, snowballing debts, not going out, walking instead of driving but the haircuts I really felt was a sacrifice!!
I looked like a wild woman! But a slightly less debt ridden one! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
BTW I appreciate that people have lost their homes and relationships due to debt I'm not trying to be insensitive...just interested in what people found really hard to give up even though they knew they needed to!

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

We gave up borrowing to buy cars. My husband drives over 30 miles a day to work and back in a car I purchased for £500 about two years ago. The car is very old, very basic, somewhat rusty, but we paid for it in cash. We put off getting him a new car until our debts were cleared and now we are saving up so we can buy one in cash.
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.
  • Hubby gave up his beloved sports car but this instantly cut our debt by £15k and we have saved an additional £10k since he sold it which would have been spent on running it and instead has gone off the debt

Its not so much about making sacrifices.....but about prioritising, and reassessing what you actually need :D

Probably sounds really shallow but I'm not buying any more Body Shop £12.50 body butters. Bought a £6.00 litre bottle of Sweet Almond Oil instead. Should last a couple of months.
    I went away and now I'm back.:j:j

I moved from a 1 bed flat to a shared house. It's saving me £100+ per month but I loathe living with strangers, goodness I'm so anti-social!!

You could make your own at a fraction of the cost and sell the surplus to friends and family :)
