Redundancy and Maternity Leave

Hi
I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and living under the threat of redundancy. If the worst should happen what would happen with my maternity pay. I am only going to be entitled to SMP. I have worked for the company for 3.5 years and have paid NI for all of this time.
Also being at the stage of pregnancy that I am the chances of securing another job will be slim. What benefits would I be able to claim?
Thanks

hi,
I am in the same boat- however i am now 25 weeks pregnant. I am facing redundancy in March. I have been told that because i am working during my qualifiying week(from your due date count back 15 sundays and this will give you your qualifying week) i am entitled to my full maternity pay from the company. My due date is the 27th April- so this week is my qualifying week ( you only have to be in work 1 day of your qualifying week to qualify so dont panic if your off sick as your still employed). Have a look on the government website it gives you full details of how to work out your entitlement.
My employer is going to pay my redundancy and maternity in a lump sum to me at the end of march. Keep in touch if you need any help give me a shout as i have had a nightmare trying to get proper details from my HR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
You will be entitled to maternity allowance should your employer not be able to pay you SMP, this is of a rate of £123.06 per week.0
