halifax and financial hardship claims

its taken around 6 months to sort this lot out, phone calls and the usual runaround, however the rules the halifax seem to be adopting are these, the halifax will refund charges directly to your debtors if they believe they are a valid debt and are a vital priority, like rent, council tax, ie, you must be able to supply outstanding debt arrears proof, and the halifax believe you are in financial hardship meaning its impossible for you to pay the debt,my example is this........

council tax arrears of £1400
electricity arrears of £600
water rates £150

so far halifax have written to me agreeing to pay these direct to the debtors, although no payments have been made,im hoping they stick to there word,i have non priority debts to black horse finance and a credit card, halifax will not pay back charges to meet these debts as they are not considered to be priority.

i hope this goes some way to clarify, for people claiming via hardship regarding the halifx stance and policy.
missed direct debit charges, very odd, theres no pain so how come the big gain,i.e £39.00 for a letter

  • I would also have words with the electricity suppliers since they have hardship funds to help with the cost of the bills.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
