Worried about default showing on credit file

I have always been particular about making my monthly loan/ credit card payments on time and have never been late with a payment.

I was going through my bills yesterday only to realize that my Argos store card payment was due on Jan 8th. I immediately paid it online yesterday.

I am concerned that because it is a couple of days late I may receive a black mark againt me on my credit file. Does anyone know if this true or not? Thanks in advance.

You will have a late payment marker on your credit file, however one late payment won't do much damage to your credit file.

Any more than one late payment marker will have a negative impact on your credit file.

I would be surprised if that gets reported as a late payment. Even if it does it should not cause any problem with your Credit History. Its repeated late payments that ring alarm bells.

However if I were you I would call Argos and explain the oversight, be apologetic and ask if they will waive any late payment charges. They usually do for a "first offence". Good Luck.

On credit card statements/Argos card they give you a date for it to be in by, then usually a few days later the statement is produced.
So it would only be a late payment and not a ''Missed Payment''
I did it with my hubbies Capital One, a day late over due in date.
This was only late and was not recorded on his files with CRA's.
BUT, they did put on a £12 charge, but after an email to them they removed the £12 fee:j Not sure with Argos, they may charge you a late fee, I'd ring them and ask, as they can remove these late fees as did Capital One.
