Thanks Bing0 and I know! Keep thinking by the end of the year I will think nothing of it, and hey it makes the Frugal Living challenge easier because I still feel like I am getting some retail therapy lol...
The garage salling, they call them yard sales in America if that sounds familiar, is our version of car boot sales I guess which are uncommon here, but you get a list from the paper on Friday and there will be 15-30 houses and from 6am you go around and buy stuff directly from them and can be big stuff like beds which I guess is harder at car boots lol. Gnerally all the stuff you can buy is in the garage ... lol. Do they never do that in the UK?
Hi there
yes. you do get the occasional garage sale, but as you said it is more carboot sales here. Thankyou"Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do."0 -
People have laughed at me too:mad:...my husband laughed but when I told him that people have done it on here he's started thinking and going through some of his stuff to sell for me, the other person who laughed has debt up to their eyeballs and I have none so what does that tell you!!!
If you believe you can or you believe you cannot you are right.
I believe I can.
Something I got for free from a car boot sale because the people were sick and were giving things away to the kids has got 9 watchers and is up to 6.00 already, and by doing a bit of research I think it might go for more than 10pounds...so I've turned nothing into a tenner - not bad. By 9.00 tonight I WILL [STRIKE]hopefully[/STRIKE] have made about 100pounds(can u tell I'm reading The Secret) without even leaving the house. Bring it on I say.:j0 -
LilacPixie wrote: »Good Luck with yours too. How do you cope with pictures for your site?? I have a digi SLR and macros lenses but i feel lighting and camera shake/lack of tripod lets me down.
All this talk of cosmetics has me thinking. I have some nina ricci lipstick gloss and lip pencil. I bought them in summer for something and have never touched them. I wonder if its worth putting them on ebay??
Hi Lilacpixie -my pics aren't great really-if you click on my username you will get a link to my homepage so you can have a look if you want. Some are taken with a SLR camera and some just with my ordinary digital. I just tend to use a lot of photoshop to brighten things up a bit and get rid of reflection from those darn Swarovski's!! I bought a small light box and lights from ebay but didnt find it much use.0 -

Good for you.......great minds think alike, and there are plenty of great minds here. That is the attitude you need to do this challenge,so just keep doing what you're doing ,and all will be great ! Oh and as far as getting freebies from carboot sales,I once picked up a magazine that someone had disgarded, and it sold for over £70.00 (it was an old copy of RADIO TIMES)and had Dr.Who on the cover. Was I surprised to see it go for that...? I certainly was !:D"Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do."0 -

My Mum laughed at me about the ten K goal saying 'oh well good for you hahahha' and my OH said 'stop wasting your time on MSE' Agggghhhh. I feel irritated. I know there are bigger problems out there - and i have some of them too - but this has still irritated the hell out of me! GRRRRRR. This is meant to be a thread of opportunity and dreams and it goes against the grain when others doubt that!

Don't forget they also do a car boot near sainsbury's, not sure if its every week though. Oh and theres a really good car boot at Pottington each sunday, not sure when it starts though. Have a look in the journal as most of them are advertised each week.
so far I'm £20 up on BB this morning. I have noticed that if you make a withdrawal request and then go to bingo it will let you play any bonus that you have left!!
Woohoo!! Item on ebay with 24 watchers, 5 different bidders, at £62 with 5 days left to run....... I can smell the money already!
If it goes for over £100 then thats my Mr Site package paid for....website here we come!
I was reading a very interesting thread on ebay yesterday discussing the difference (sales wise) between ebay and other selling sites eg, ebid, amazon and quite a few people were noticing that although ebid doesn't have the traffic that ebay has at the moment there were a lot of predictions that ebay will tend to favour larger sellers and push out the little businesses like ours. I have decided to start selling on all of them!! It might be worth you guys thinking about it long term. Ebay will always have the most traffic due to advertising but the other fees (apart from amazon where you can demand a slight premium on non books) tend to be cheaper....
Anyway heres the link to the thread (lots of ideas on selling too that might help everyone!)

Theres a lot of info on the ebay forums, well worth the read if you are serious about trading online. A lot of the advise can be taken and adapted to websites, ebay and other outlets.
Thats all for this morning....pop back later to avoid doing housework!

Need some brave vibes please!!!!!:rotfl:
Seen several lots that are ending today which I think I can make money from. Trouble is I will be spending about £250 - £300 and I am a bit scared of making a mistake. I have only bought stuff at a low cost so far so this seems a big step
Someone needs to whip me into action or I will just dither.....:(0 -

Hi there,
you,ve quoted..... "which I think I can make money from".
That needs to read......"which I know I can make money from""Do not let what you can't do interfere with what you can do."0 -
:T:T:T:T:T Bravery headed your way! :T:T:T:T
If you're worried why don't you just pick up one of the lots, then you can dip your toe in the water without totally panickingThere are always bargains to be had, so if you start slowly and build yourself up you won't be missing out, but you won't be worrying either
I tend to jump into things feet first and it's only because my OH has been telling me to hold back that I've managed not to spend loads and loads, which I'm glad about because it gives me breathing space to ease into everything gently
I'm sure whatever you decide will be great :jBe the change you want to see in the world - Gandhi
