Smoke alarm for enclosed space?

In my garage behind 2 fire doors I have a gas boiler (old style big beast with flame at back) alongside a washing maching and tumble dryer (we obviously keep all washing that is stacked up in there away from the flame). The other side of the fire doors are 2 cars (approx 3 feet away). The garage is attached to the house and there is a child's bedroom straight above it.
Reading on another thread about washing machines catching fire I am now worried that if anything caught fire in this cupboard (approx 8ft x 4ft) it could be potentially lethal.

Is there such a thing as a smoke alarm that could be fitted in this cupbard but the alarm would sound in the house (as we could not hear it if it was going off in the garage)?

One way of covering the situation you have described is to install two radio linked smoke detectors, as per the link below. One in the boiler cupboard and one in your house, radio link them together and if one goes off the other will as well.
