Why can't you freeze a "roast-in-the-bag" chicken?

So, apparently, I can freeze my roast-in-the-bag chicken on the understanding that once cooked its taste may not be quite as ‘up to scratch’ as if it had remained unfrozen. Is that what ‘not suitable for home freezing’ means? Well Tesco, I beg to differ.
Yes, it is. If they said it was suitable for home freezing, then everything else on the packaging would still have to apply once the product had been frozen and subsequently defrosted. If the taste/texture etc. won't be up to scratch once frozen then of course they won't want to extend their guarantee ("We are happy to refund or replace any Tesco product which falls below the high standard you expect.") to that. Not suitable is different from not safe.0 -
You should never freeze these as it could harm you. Normally I would ask you to pm me and I will test these for you. Unfortunately as I am scooting off across the ogin this week, I am unable to offer my usual testing. Therefore, if you have a child, please test some on them. If they are well after eating, you could try it yourself!0

Have to say that I've also bought one of these and frozen it as soon as I got it home. Defrosted later and cooked OUT OF THE BAG ....................... because I don't like doing them IN the bag. I always start a chicken cooking on the breast and turn over after around half an hour.
Also do this in the Halogen Oven.0 -
it is because they are basted, ie injected with water and flavourings, which will if you are really pernickety effect the texture of the chicken when defrosted and cooked
Ie they have pumped it full of water which will cause iceicles to form
I buy these for as little as 50p from the factory and I freeze them all the time and Im still alive0 -
