Reasonable travel expenses should be met as a given rate, but as mentioned above divide total hours by wages and put it to the bosses that the hourly rate is not enough.(despite salary contract) also ask for stopping out allowance of £30 a night after 10 hrs on the road. (Thats what i paid) Having said that was self employed, work 7.30am to anytime (9-10 pm) travel across the country, get no holiday pay, no sick pay, and no extras., so working is still better than not. I would put your case together and ALL have a meeting with the masters.

All get together and tackle it collectively, even with no union you must stick together. The salary is to cover a basic working week and the unpaid travel is increasing the hours away to an unacceptable time, especially as you are expected to return to home every night.

Are you in a company vehicle? silly question I know, but if you are, there may be some regulation on time that they are making you breach. rupee99 anything in this?

even though your company doesnt havea recognised union, it doesnt mean you cant be a member of one- have a look around for unions in your area of work- maybe transport & general workers union or something like that and see what they can come up with

    Good luck!
