One of the advantages of a dslr is the larger sensor generally they have lower noise, which becomes more noticeable at high ISO setting0

I have just been looking at my shots taken by my SX120is on our tv a 37" screen and if the photos look as good in print at A4 i will be very happy and the Nikon SLR will be getting retiered and the £120 spent on the canon would of been worth itSpending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0

The reason I got rid of my bridge camera was that I did not like the viewfinder and it was slow to respond though I would imagine newer compact and bridges have better reponse times At low ISO settings the picture quality was good but you can shoot in lower light with a dslr.0

What difference does a Dslr make you are sill shooting with the same iso number as a compact and will either need a tripod or flash. or am i missing something? (i am new to this digtal thing)
A canon EOS 1000d DSLR iso 100 - 1600. canon phowershot compact sx120is iso 80 -1600

You can set the ISO on most digital cameras and if you set 800 with a compact the photo will not be as good as a DSLR because of noise.0 -
Ok Thanks for that.
Would that be due to the sensor?

The lenses and sensors are magnitudes better, so you can take a better quality picture with a DSLR given all other equal criteria
It's like comparing the build quality of a Daewoo and an Aston Martin. Both will get you from A>B but would rather ride in an Aston

Many thanks for all of your replys, now have a couple of websites to look over and tips. Will be going for a DSLR instead of a compact, I want my Aston Martin
