Hi all,
I am writing on behalf of my mum. She is currently with Talk Talk over a legacy BT line. She pays line rental and usage to Talk Talk and has no dealings with BT. She is happy with their service. Her key requirements are as follows:
I am writing on behalf of my mum. She is currently with Talk Talk over a legacy BT line. She pays line rental and usage to Talk Talk and has no dealings with BT. She is happy with their service. Her key requirements are as follows:
- Must have free landline calls day, evening and weekend - she has that today
- She realises that she spends quite a bit calling 0845 and 0870 numbers. She would like those to be thrown in for for free too.
- She would now like a very basic broadband connection. She does not own a PC and currently has no intention to own one but she has seen my internet radio and wants one herself. As the only use speed and down load limits should not be too much of an issue.
- She will be needing a wireless router so if she can get that chucked in she will be delighted
- Caller identity display is not important to her and although it is nice she is not willing to pay for it.
- She has the free voicemail service and would like to keep that if possible

If you need any advice on Talk Talk a good place to start is their own forums.

She has the free voicemail service and would like to keep that if possible.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Is she on a TT LLU exchange? Check on samknows.com, then exchange search.
If so, the price you quote is about right:
Line rental £11.49.
Essentials calls and broadband package: £6.99
Anytime calls boost £4.
Total: £22.48.
If she's non-LLU, the price will be higher.
Bear in mind that this requires an 18m contract.
Sign up online and there is currently a waiver on the normal £29.99 connection fee.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
thanks. She is LLU so the price is right. She only wants the web for an internet radio so even talk talk should be adequate. Seems like there is £50 cash back on quidco too :-)0

Then if she doesn't want to switch her line rental away from TT there isn't any other choice. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Tell her to stay put unless you want to spend your time doing all the work and cleaning up the potential mess.
The deal looks good to me from TT anyway. Cheaper things are out there but there's complications and since she's a 'pensioner' I'd assume it'd be best to leave things as they are.0
